Phase 1 ‘Goldsmiths’
Landex purchased the former Crown Nursery site in Ufford. We are seeking to redevelop the site in a careful way where the accent will be on producing a high quality design and sustainable construction whilst doing so in an environmentally sensitive way.
Landex has just built a 34 dwelling housing scheme in the ‘Phase 1’ redevelopment of the site and ‘Goldsmiths’ is now nearing completion. The design represents a distinctive and characterful addition to this part of Ufford’s built form. Whilst a variety of dwellings types and sizes has been built for private occupation, the site has also delivered 11 affordable dwellings including some of the first discount market dwellings in the East Suffolk district alongside much needed rented accommodation.
This was an entirely residential scheme of 34 dwellings including 11 affordable dwellings designed in an enclosed layout around a central open green space. The development is complete and all but one house has been sold/occupied. ‘Goldsmiths’ has been a successful addition to the Ufford village street scene. A complete cross-section of house sizes and types has been constructed in a distinctive design complemented by appropriate landscaping.
The next phase of development seeks to restore some commercial activity and employment opportunity to the former Nursery site. It’s not all that long ago that Crown Nursery employed a team of 15 people both on and off site. A number of the former buildings and terraced plant sales and growing areas are still very much in evidence on the site and so the proposed development seeks to address their demolition, clearance and replacement with a small commercial scheme which will include some important facilities which are to be geared towards the local community. A shop is proposed alongside a Café as well as several small business units.
